GLOSSARY

"Cookie(s)": refers to a text file that may be saved, subject to your choices, in a dedicated space on the hard disk of your Terminal, when you consult an online service thanks to your browser software. "Browsing Information" means information that relates to a Terminal's connection to an electronic communication service at a given time.   • IP (Internet Protocol) address of the Terminal connected to the Internet ;

  • the type of operating system used by the Terminal (Windows, MacOs, Linux, Unix, BeOS. etc.);

  • the type and version of the browser software used by a Terminal (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.);

  • the language of use of the browser software used by the Terminal, the identifier and content of a Cookie file stored by us in the Terminal.

"Personal Data": means data that relates to you alone at a given time, regardless of the Terminal you are using.

"Terminal" means the hardware equipment (computer, tablet, smartphone, phone, etc.) that you use to view or view a website, application, advertising content, etc.

"Advertiser": generally refers to any company or organization that uses various communication techniques to promote its reputation, its image, its products or its services.

"Advertising network": means the entity or company in charge of marketing advertising space on behalf of one or more Broadcasters: publishers of websites, mobile applications, etc.

The Régies may be required to :

  • to design advertising offers that are profitable for the Broadcaster and for themselves and more effective for the Advertiser;

  • implement technological solutions and partnerships that enable them to collect information relating to the Browsing and/or location of a single Terminal (computer, smartphone) on one or several thousand advertising distribution media (websites, mobile service platforms, mobile applications) for which they are the direct or indirect intermediaries.

"Broadcaster": refers to the content publishing medium (website, mobile website or mobile application), which has advertising space that it seeks to remunerate in the best possible conditions - both financial and ergonomic - through the insertion of advertising content, in order to finance its activities, in particular the publishing of services and content or information (e.g. online press).
In order to promote its advertising spaces and obtain better remuneration for them, the Broadcaster must be able to justify an audience in order to supply its spaces with advertising content adapted to this audience. The Broadcaster may call upon one or more Advertising Agencies to promote its spaces. Where applicable, these Advertising Agencies are required to implement in the advertising spaces they market to Advertisers, counting devices and, when they have them, devices for adapting the advertising content that they will display or broadcast on the Broadcaster's site.

"Targeted Advertising Service Provider": means a company that uses technologies - in particular Cookies and/or algorithms for calculating probability or appetence - that enable it to assist an Advertising Agency, an Advertiser or a communications consultancy in determining the advertising that appears to be the most appropriate to the Browsing information relating to a Terminal or to the Personal Data relating to a user, according to the information that it processes or that is made available to it by one of these actors.

"Targeted Advertising" means the ability to tailor advertising content to Browser information or Personal Data.

"Behavioral Advertising": refers to advertising that consists of deducing the supposed centers of interest of users from information relating to the Browsing of their Terminal on one or more services, in order to be able to display specifically adapted advertisements, supposed to interest them more than other advertisements.
The implementation of this type of advertising depends, on the one hand, on the technologies used and the actors who implement them, and on the other hand, on the availability or not of a "cookie" of a Terminal (a "Cookie" file, for example) and on the ability or not to share such a "cookie" with third parties.

"Personalized Advertising": refers to advertising chosen according to the characteristics known to the Internet user (age, gender, contact information, etc.) and that he or she has provided, for example by registering for a service.
The implementation of this form of targeted advertising can result either from declarative information provided by a user but insufficient to identify him (age, gender, tastes, interests), or from a processing of Personal Data.
